CLARKS SUMMIT — Dupont native Brandon Matthews finished tied for 20th at the 102nd playing of the Pennsylvania Amateur Championship held July 27-29 at the Country Club of Scranton.

Matthews finished six-over in the three-round tournament. He shot 73-70-76 for a total of 219, which was 12 strokes behind the winner, Isaiah Logue. Logue’s 54-hole, six-under posting was one of just three players to post an under-par score for the tournament.

Matthews’ best finish in the tournament came in 2013, when he finished tied for second at Saucon Valley Country Club.

Robert Zaleski, Duryea, playing out of Fox Hill Country Club, shot 74-76 in his first two rounds and failed to qualify for the championship round by two strokes. Bob Gill, Pittston, also playing out of Fox Hill, shot 83-82 and missed the championship round.
