Kirsten Durlind had 25 assists, 12 service points and seven aces while Marlee O’Brien had 32 digs, 16 kills and eight service points as Pittston Area narrowly defeated Coughlin (22-25, 25-15, 19-25, 25-21, 15-12) on Wednesday in Wyoming Valley Conference girls volleyball action.

Aubrey Wynn had 14 digs, nine service points and kills, four aces and one block while Mykayla Timek added 10 digs, six service points, five blocks and assists, three aces and two kills to help lead Coughlin.

The teams of Taryn Whitman, Emi Patel and Madison Stanton, Breanna Yashkus picked up wins and Jess Borget grabbed a win in singles action as Pittston Area edged Coughlin on Friday.

Diana Rodriguez and Kira Meager got the only wins of the night for the Crusaders.

Sara Swartz, Jess Borget and Taryn Whitman all won their singles matches as Pittston Area edged Crestwood 3-2 on Wednesday.

Crestwood teams of Morgan Novosel/Emily Shiplett and Raegan Distasio/Gabby Slucki picked up the two wins for the Comets.

Lynndath Thelemaque, Kayla Davis and Isabella Arndt each picked up singles wins as the Bulldogs improve to 6-5 on the season after a win over Pittston Area on Monday.

In doubles action, the Berwick duo of Gabi Popko and Lily Force-Moore won in straight sets, as did the No. 2 doubles team of Jacee Carrathers and Alexis Zalutko.

Julia Hutsko scored two goals and Mackenzie Love scored a goal and recorded three assists as Lake-Lehman topped Wyoming Area. The Black Knights out shot their opponents 21-4 in the game.

Alee Petit scored the only goal of the night for Wyoming Area off an assist from Erica Gallagher.

Claudia Waltz picked up a goal and an assist for the Warriors while Lila Donnelly scored what proved to be the game winner late in the first half. Caitlin Butchko made 11 saves in net on Tuesday.

Isidra Reitsma had the lone goal for the Blue Knights.

Nanticoke 3

After a 2-2 halftime score, the Patriots went on to score four goals in the second half to roll past Nanticoke on Tuesday.

Sam Mayers finished with two goals and two assists, Maddy Mimnaugh and Mia Barbieri each had a goal and an assist in the win.

Lake-Lehman 2

Wyoming Area 1

Sam Saxe and Nick Wnuk scored a goal apiece in the first half which would prove to be enough as Lake-Lehman held on to defeat Wyoming Area on Friday.

David Klaproth, Wyoming Area’s goalie, took a penalty shot in the second half and scored the only goal of the night for the Warriors.

Nanticoke 9

Ed Lukowski had another big game for the Trojans piling up four goals and three assists in the victory on Tuesday.

Luke Butczynski also contribute a great deal in the win with a pair of goals and three assists, while Zack Cardone added two goals and Nate Kreitzer scored one.

CROSS COUNTRY

PA, WA boys each win

At Wyoming Seminary, Wyoming Area’s Ryan Marvin (18:45) and Pittston Area’s Tony DeMark (19:02) finished seventh and eighth, respectively.

Wyoming Area took down Pittston Area, 25-30, while also beating GAR and losing to Coughlin. Pittston Area earned a win over Wyoming Seminary, 21-34, but fell to Dallas.

WA, PA each win two

Pittston Area’s Arianna Boccardi (21:11) finished fourth overall as the Patriots earned wins over Wyoming Seminary and Wyoming Area. The Patriots fell to Dallas.

Wyoming Area copped out a win over Coughlin and GAR. Both races were 15-50.
