Pittston Area’s Jake Stankoski threw four touchdown passes in a 27-20 win over Pocono Mountain East for the Patriots’ first win of 2005.
Stankoski’s best outing of the season finished with 12 completions for 241 yards and the four scores. Two of those scoring passes went to Charles Salvo, with another two going to Raheem Williams.
October 1995
In a fast and furious fourth quarter, Pittston Area’s boys soccer team came out on top of a 4-2 decision against Wyoming Area.
Adam Loyack and Chuck Vaccarro scored early for Pittston Area. Then, Skukri Rahman scored put Pittston Area up 3-0. WA’s Dave Booth added a goal with 30 seconds left in the first half. The Warriors trailed 4-1 with five minutes to play. Mike Burke added Wyoming Area’s final goal on a penalty kick.
October 1985
The Pittston Area football team suffered a rout at the hands of Berwick, 42-7, at Crispin Field.
Although the Patriots tailed only 7-0 after the first quarter, Pittston Area was never in the game. Berwick ran for 311 yards and threw for another 130. The Bulldogs limited the Patriots to just 200 yards of offense.
The lone Pittston Area touchdown came on its first offensive series of the second half when Mike Ristagno hit John Baloga hauled in a 43-yard touchdown.
October 1975
Wyoming Area took an early lead but would eventually fall to powerful Wyoming Valley West, 29-6.
On homecoming night, during which Janice Berti was crowned queen, the Warriors stopped WVW on its first possession. Tommy McDonnell hit Joe Radzwilka for a 31-yard touchdown.
From there, however, it was all Valley West. The Spartans finished with two interceptions and recovred a WA fumble.
