Crestwood pulled away in the second half Tuesday night for a 63-45 victory over host Wyoming Area in a non-league boys basketball game between Wyoming Valley Conference schools.
The defending WVC champion Comets improved to 5-3 with the help of 19 points by Tim McCue, 16 points by Josh Malkemes and 10 points by Jason Klusewitz.
Wyoming Area led, 12-11, after one quarter and forced a 17-17 halftime tie before Crestwood scored 46 second-half points.
Sam Greenfield led the Warriors (2-5) with 11 points. Tony Saitta added nine.
Looking ahead
Pittston Area returns from a week off when it opens the 50th annual McGrane Tournament Monday night at the Wilkes-Barre Catholic Youth Center at 6:30 p.m. against Hanover Area. Lake-Lehman plays Holy Redeemer at 8 p.m.
The winners play for the title Wednesday at 8 p.m., following the 6:30 p.m. championship game between Monday.
Pittston Area will be trying to improve on a last-place finish from a year ago.
The second annual Backyard Brawl Trophy game will be played Monday night when Wyoming Area plays at Dallas.
Dallas won last year’s game, 70-55.
