Michelle D’Amico, by winning the 100 butterfly, helped the Pittston Area swim team earn a come-from-behind win over Dunmore, 99-76.

With Dunmore leading 35-32, D’Amico, Alyssa Pourmonir and Christine Narsavage put up 10 points in the event to close out the match. Pourmonir finished third, while Narsavage was fifth. Pittston Area took first place in four of the last six events.

Chloe Sanchez, Alex Antonacci and Sarah Mayoff clinched the match by taking second, third and fourth in the 100 breaststroke.

Seton Catholic’s boys basketball team, riding a nine-game losing streak, fell to playoff-bound Bishop Hafey, 61-56 on Parents’ Night.

Al Zangardi finished with 17 points for the Eagles. John Renfer and Mike Ostrowski combined for about 14 points for Seton Catholic.

February 1986

Pittston Area’s Cheryl Grady scored her 1,000th career point in a 58-44 girls basketball win over Bishop Hoban. The then-senior entered the game needing just seven points.

Grady reached the milestone in the second quarter and finished the game with a game-high 28 points.

February 1976

The St. John’s girls basketball team took care of Dallas, 67-46 and inched closer to a second half conference title.

Susan Brown led the Johniettes with 31 points, followed by Karen Mikita’s 18. Other scorers for the winners were Cathy Pace with 10 points, Maureen Finnerty with four and Karen DeMark with two.
