Dance school hosting golf tourney

WILKES-BARRE — The David Blight School of Dance will host a golf tournament at 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 at Wilkes-Barre Golf Club.

Cost for the captain and crew event is $90 per person. There will be a dinner, drinks, raffles, auctions, games, mulligans and on course competitions. Participants are asked to register by July 1. Duryea LL holding purse bingo

OLD FORGE — Duryea Little League Designer Purse Bingo will be held Sunday, Aug. 14 at the Eagle McLure Hose Company, 375 Milwaukee Ave., Old Forge.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and bingo starts at 1 p.m. The event will feature 20 regular games for $20 and there will be special games, a basket raffle, a bake sale, food and refreshments available.

Miles for Michael run will be Aug. 20

PITTSTON — The 2016 Miles for Michael/Tomato Festival 5K Run and Fun Walk will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20.

LL World Series trip is Aug. 25

DURYEA — The Duryea American Legion Post 585, in conjunction with the Ladies Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion, are holding its annual bus trip to the Little League World Series on Thursday, Aug. 25.

This is a free trip open to those ages 7 and older.

The bus will leave at 11:45 a.m. from the Duryea VFW parking lot, 492 Stephenson St., and return after the second game is over.

Free hoagies, chips, snacks and drinks will be provided. Deadline to sign up is Thursday, Aug. 18 and can be done at the post home, 329 Main St., or by calling 570-457-4242.

St. Monica’s holding golf tourney

WEST WYOMING — St. Monica Parish’s fourth annual golf outing and dinner will be held Sunday, Aug. 28 at Emanon Country Club.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. with a 2 p.m. start. Price of registration is $65 per person or $260 per foursome and the event features dinner, raffles, prices and on-course refreshments.

Registration is held every weekend following Mass and payments are due by Tuesday, Aug. 23.

TAYLOR — The Avoca Ancient Order of Hibernians will sponsor the Thomas P. Durkin Memorial Open at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at Pine Hills Golf Course.

Cost is $90 per golfer with a luncheon to follow.

YMCA hosting adult 3-on-3 tourney

PITTSTON — The Thomas Tigue Memorial 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament for men and women age 18 and older will be held Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18 at the Greater Pittston YMCA.
