WILKES-BARRE — Wyoming Area graduate Gianna Gennetts, a freshman forward on the Wilkes University field hockey team, was named Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom Offensive Player of the Week.

Gennetts, of West Pittston, earned the award for the week ending on Oct. 2. She earned her first award with two goals and an assist, including the game-winning goal against preseason favorite FDU-Florham, in a 2-0 week for the Lady Colonels.

Gennetts opened the week with a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over The University of Scranton. The freshman then scored the game’s first goal, and eventual game-winner, in the 32nd minute of a 2-0 win over FDU-Florham.

Gennetts is one of two Wyoming Area graduates player for Wilkes. She’s joined by sophomore forward Kaylee Rodgers, Exeter
