Victory allows Lady Warriors to finish with winning softball record

Kristi Skok tripled, singled and drove in four runs Monday when Wyoming Area defeated visiting Dallas, 7-2, to clinch a winning season in Wyoming Valley Conference softball.

Bri Pizzano had two hits and scored twice in the win.

Cassidy Graham retired all six batters she faced, striking out two, to get the save. She also doubled in her only at-bat, scored a run and drove in a run.

Jess Parente doubled and scored.

Gwen Glatz pitched five innings, holding Dallas to two runs (one earned) on six hits while walking one and striking out two to earn the win. She also had a hit, run and RBI.

Dallas led, 2-0, before Wyoming Area scored four runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Wyoming Area lost at unbeaten division champion Nanticoke, 9-4, in Thursday’s regular-season finale. The Warriors finished 7-6 to place third out of five teams in WVC Division 2.

Jenna Lipowski homered twice and drove in five runs while Jilann Baron homered and drove in four for the Trojanettes.

Skok and Jess Parente each had two hits for Wyoming Area. Skok drove in a run. Parente had a triple and scored.

Graham, who drove in two runs, and Julia Kopetchney each had doubles.

Pittston Area fell, 6-3, to Wyoming Valley West Thursday in a regular-season finale that decided second place in WVC Division 1.

The Lady Patriots finished 6-7 and third of five teams in the division.

Morgan Klosko had three hits for Wyoming Valley West, which pulled out the win with five runs in the fourth inning.

Lexi Felinski went 3-for-3 to lead Pittston Area.

Nina Cencetti and Morgan Mesaris each added two hits.

Alexa McHugh threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.

Pittston Area also fell 10-3 at home against Hazleton Area Monday.

The game was tied, 3-3, after one inning but the Lady Cougars went ahead with two runs in the fifth and broke away with five more in the seventh.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Natasha Koslop scored six goals to lead Crestwood past Wyoming Area, 13-3, in the Wyoming Valley Conference finale.

The Lady Warriors finished the best of their three seasons in the WVC with a 5-6 record to place sixth out of 12 teams.
