State Rep. Phyllis Mundy announced that applications are available for special license plates that honor and benefit Pennsylvania veterans.

The plates are blue, white and yellow and include an image of an American flag with a bald eagle. The bottom of the plate reads, ??Honoring Our Veterans.? This plate may only be used on a passenger car or truck weighing 10,000 pounds or less.

The fee for the new plate is $35, and $15 goes to the Veterans Trust Fund. Act 194 of 2012 permits money in the Veterans Trust Fund to be used to support Pennsylvania veterans and their families and for grants to the Pennsylvania Veterans Foundation and other nonprofit, charitable and veterans' service organizations. The law also allows Pennsylvanians to donate $3 to the fund when applying or renewing their drivers' licenses or identification cards or renewing vehicle registrations.

Mundy said residents may apply for the license plate by completing the Form MV-914, ??Application for Honoring Our Veterans Special Fund Registration Plate,? found on PennDOT's website, www.dmv.state.pa.us.
