Old Forge improves to 10-0 in football

The Blue Devils ran off five touchdowns in less than eight minutes during the first half on their way to a 49-6 rout of Susquehanna in a Lackawanna Football Conference Division 3 game.
Brenden Wahl threw for touchdowns to three different receivers and Brian Tomasetti ran for three touchdowns during the first half to help the Blue Devils complete an unbeaten regular season and repeat as division champion.
Old Forge went 5-0 in the division and takes a 10-0 record into Friday's District 2 Class A semifinals at home against Riverside.
Wahl found Anthony Piccolini for a 29-yard touchdown pass on the first offensive play for Old Forge.
Susquehanna stopped the next two Old Forge possessions, before the Blue Devils broke the game open with 36 points in 7:58.
Wahl threw 4 yards to Jake Manetti and Tomasetti ran 10 yards for touchdowns 14.7 seconds apart in the final minute of the first quarter.
We wanted to come out as quick as we could and do some different things because we knew the surface was real bad, said Old Forge coach Mike Schuback, who kept the Blue Devils of the sloppy field during pre-game drills.
Wahl found Shane Schuback with a 31-yard touchdown before Tomasetti scored on runs of 10 and 12 yards for a 42-0 lead.
Cole Mallery ran 7 yards for a Susquehanna touchdown in the third quarter.
Tyler Salerno scored on a 30-yard run for Old Forge in the fourth quarter.
Kyree Toomey led the Old Forge defense with five tackles, including two sacks and another tackle for a loss.
Susquehanna finished 2-3 and 3-7.
