PITTSTON — The Pittston Inspiration Mural is in its final stages.
Muralist Michael Pilato has been working through the night for the past three weeks to get the mural set up in time for the annual Pittston Tomato Festival. Pilato said the mural will be finished within the next few days.
Some of the new faces that have recently surfaced on the mural include the mural’s centerpiece. Jimmy Cefalo has been placed on the wall as a bronze statue. To his left, Jimmy’s parents share some spaghetti with Joe Paterno, while John Capelletti looks through the window.
Longtime Pittston Area football coach Bob Barbieri and Dr. Joe Lombardo are sharing some food at a table in the forefront. National Football League Hall of Famer Charley Trippi is in full uniform as well. Well-known muralist Dwight Kirkland can be seen putting his touches on the mural.
On the right side of the mural, Lori Nocito and Gloria Blandina are depicted in the artwork.
The city will be officially unveiling the mural on Saturday, Sept. 5. Many of the people dictated in the mural will be on hand for the event.
