WEST PITTSTON — West Pittston Moose’s JJ Hood pitched a perfect game, striking out 10, while facing the minimum of 12 batters in four innings in a 11-0 win over G&S Car Wash in Major League baseball action on Wednesday.

Evan Melberger had a double and a solo home run. Keith Carey also had two hits, while Hood and Cody Meade collected hits. Blaise Sokach-Minnick and Richie Kashuba combined for eight strikeouts in the loss.

Matt Cocco pitched a complete game, one-hitter, striking out 17, as Pittston Township beat Wyoming/West Wyoming.

JJ Walsh and Zach Elko each had two hits. Wyoming/West Wyoming’s Nick George broke up Cocco’s no-hitter in the third inning.

Pittston Townships’ Brayden Powers picked up the win, while also going 3-for-4 at the plate. Matt Cocco, JJ Walsh and Sean Connors also had multi-hit games.

Wyoming/West Wyoming’s Adam Yelland also had a strong day with three hits.

Pittston Township got two hits from Aidan Mehal, and JJ Walsh and Zach Elko each had doubles in the win over Duryea.

Duryea’s Dave O’Malley pitched strong for the losing team, while also helping his cause with two hits.

Aidan Mehal picked up the win pitching five scoreless innings for Pittston Township against the Moose.

The winners were led by extra base hits from Zach Elko, JJ Walsh, Sean Connors and Kevin Lockett. Evan Melberger had three hits for the Moose.

JJ Walsh picked up the win on the mound giving up one earned run and striking out six. Offensively, Pittston Township was led by Brayden Powers and Shawn Barber.

PT Capozucca Bros 7

The two teams combined for 21 hits, but Aidan Mehal’s two-run, walk-off home run sealed the win for Color World against rival Capozucca Brothers.

Sean Connors, Brayden Powers and Zach Eko each had two hits. Drew Delucca was stellar from the plate for Capozucca Brothers, going 3-for-4 with a double and a home run.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

Pittston Area 11,

South Wilkes-Barre 7

Pittston Area’s Andrew Krawczk had four hits and scored three runs in the locals win over South Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, June 1.

Matthew Cardinale drove in two runs, while Krawczk, Tyler Granahan, Matt Rinaldi, John McGlynn, Gino Mariggi and Jimmy Murtha also drove in a run. Granahan picked up the win by coming in to shut down South Wilkes-Barre from the third through the seventh.

Pittston Area 12,

North Wilkes-Barre 1

Pittston Area’s Andrew Krawczk finished with three hits — a single, double and triple — and an RBI in the win on Saturday, May 28. Also collecting multiple hits were Michael Nocito, Tyler Granahan and John McGlynn.

Nocito, McGlynn and Jimmy Murtha each had two RBI.
