Two people died Monday evening inside the Luzerne County Correctional Facility — an inmate and a prison guard, according to two sources familiar with the details.
The deaths occurred during a physical encounter in which both fell down an elevator shaft, the sources said.
County officials have not commented but are expected to issue a statement shortly.
