WILKES-BARRE — Wyoming Borough Council member Russell Herron was sentenced to six months of probation for violating a protection-from-abuse order not to have any contact with an ex-girlfriend, according to court records.

Herron, 47, address listed as Campground Road, Exeter Township, was charged by the Wyoming Area Regional Police Department on March 17, related to writing a long post on Facebook that does not name but refers to his ex-girlfriend in 2025, court records say.

At the time of the online post, court records say, Herron was subject to a PFA granted by Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas Judge Tarah Toohil on Nov. 19, 2024, after the woman filed a petition for a PFA alleging Herron threatened to release sexually explicit pictures taken during their relationship.

Under the terms of Toohil’s PFA order, Herron was prohibited from having any direct or indirect contact with the woman, nor was he permitted to abuse, stalk, harass, or threaten the woman. The PFA order granted by Toohil on Nov. 19, 2024, was scheduled to expire on Nov. 19, 2026.
