PITTSTON — Officials of the Pittston Memorial Library announce that the library has been renewed as a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.
Previously, the library had attained membership and initiated its annual Health Fair, which in 2018 will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 in the John P. Cosgrove Center.
It will be the fourth annual event of its kind.
The National Network features a dedication to providing high quality information services and to improving the public’s access to health information. The library will continue to deliver information published by the National Network.
The certificate is signed by the Director of the Network, Patricia Flatley Brennan, RN, PhD. The library works with the Network through the University of Pittsburgh, which is responsible for the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Lois Ostrowski, president of the Pittston Memorial Library Board of Trustees, and Patricia Joyce, library director, noted the designation has meant that “health care and information regarding health is more easily made known to Greater Pittston citizens, and continues the role that the library plays in being a community center for our service area.”
Howard J. Grossman, fundraising director for the library, noted that “the designation makes it more likely that funding opportunities can be found that relate to the health sector and the library.”
