DURYEA — Duryea Troop 285 will conduct an Eagle Scout Court of Honor and Reeption for Michael Lojewski and Brandon Mickavicz at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22 at the American Legion Brennan Regan Poast 585 Hall, 329 Main St.

Both Scouts received their Eagle Scout rank from the NEPA Council, Moosic, on Jan. 17.

Lojewski, a senior at Pittston Area High School, is the son of Paul and Tatian Lojewski, Duryea, and the grandson of Liliya Arutyunova and Bernadine and Raymond Lojewski.

Mickavicz, also a senior at Pittston Area High School, is the son of Brett Mickavicz and his fiancé Robyn Albrecht, of Dallas; Christione and James Wilk, of Pittston, and the grandson of Mary Dee Mickavicz, Sandy Falbo, Jim and Sally Wilk and the late Judy Craig.

Mickavicz and Lojewski began their Scouting careers with Duryea Cub Scout Pack 375 as Tiger Cub Scouts in 2007 and advanced in ranks to earn their Arrow of Light Awards in February 2012. They received their Religious Medals, the Light of Christ and the Parvulli Dei at Holy Rosary Church in Duryea.

They joined Duryea Boy Scout Troop 285 in March 2012 and, after crossing the bridge at the Blue and Gold Banquet, they received their Boy Scout badges and became members of the Panther Patrol. They both attended Goose Pond Summer Camp each week in July and the NEPA Council Traveling Camporee to Washington D.C. in 2012. Mickavicz attended the Niagra Falls NY Camporee in 2016.

Lojewski earned 28 merit badges and has assisted with several Eagle Scout projects for his fellow Scouts. He has held the positions of responsibilities as Quartermaster, Panther Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader. With the help of his troop, Lojewski painted the garage at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Duryea and replaced two doors in September 2016. He will attend Luzerne County Community College and the State Police Academy after graduating from high school in June. He is a member of Excelsior Hose Co. #2 in Duryea and Nativity of Our Lord Parish and their Men’s Society in Duryea.

Mickavicz earned 34 merit badges, assisted with several other Eagle Scout projects and has served as Quartermaster, Historian, Panther Patrol Leader, and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. His Eagle Scout project was to paint the playground equipment at Orioles Park in Pittston with the help of his troop in October 2017. He is a member of the Lowwapaneu Lodge #191 Order of the Arrow and received his brotherhood in 2014. Private E 1 Michavicz completed his Army basic training at Ft. Benning in Georgia this past summer and will attend Advanced Infantry Training and Ohio Technical College for welding after graduating from high school.
