Greater Pittston American Veterans Association Post 189 announces events


PITTSTON — In preparation of Memorial day, the Greater Pittston American Veterans Association Post 189 will remove flags, install new ones and erecting crosses at Sacred Heart and Holy Mother of Sorrows cemeteries in Dupont this week.

The post plans to replace the flags the evenings of Monday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 16. It plans to follow up by putting up the crosses on the evening of Friday, May 25.

There will be an election of officers at the group’s monthly meeting set for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at the Polish American Citizens Club, 111 Elm St., Dupont. Also, the post’s monthly meeting will include the election of all officers, including commander.

Other issues to be covered will be the usual monthly business and the planning of the itinerary for this year’s Memorial Day parade and services in Dupont, which Post 189 will sponsoring. Commander McDonald is chairman of the paradeand Post 189 member Sal Alaimo is grand marshal.
