Saturday, May 12 represented the 26th Annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive in America, whereby a few thousand local branches of the letter carrier unions volunteered their time in collecting donated food while delivering mail. Locally, NALC Branch 162 members of the Pittston Post Office helped combat hunger for the Greater Pittston area by picking up donated food along their routes and dropping it off at the Greater Pittston Meals on Wheels food bank. One group of volunteers who assisted with the NALC Food Drive and helped the letter carriers unload their vehicles and stack the shelves of the Greater Pittston Meals on Wheels food bank was the Greater Wilkes-Barre Labor Council (GWBLC). From left, are Joe Padava, GWBLC president; Bill Mapp, USW Local 15253; Dave Joyce, USW Local 15253; Polly Delaney, Wyoming Valley QWest Education Association; Tom Bindus, Teamsters Local 401.
