EXETER — Joseph Pizano was recently nominated for appointment by Governor Tom Wolf to become a member of the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) for the state of Pennsylvania.

The Senate confirmed his appointment June 5.

Pizano has served as a councilman in Exeter Borough since 2005 and on various borough committees, such as civil service, police, fire, parks & recreation and zoning.

He is also a health and physical education teacher and the athletic director at Wyoming Area High School. He has been a coach for the Warriors football team for the past 19 year and has been the head track and field coach for over 20 years.

Pizano is a member of St. Barbara’s Parish in Exeter, Knights of Columbus, Wyoming Area Football Alumni Association, Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association, is a PIAA football official and was inducted into the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.

He was born and raised in Exeter, where he still resides with his wife Rhonda, and children Rocco, Bianca and Talia.
