Our Lady of Fatima is calling to Pray for Peace in the World and Meditate on the Mysteries of the Rosary. In response to her call, a monthly evening of prayer and song will be held in the chapel. The evenings will be led by Ernie Pappa and will include hymns and Fatima prayers, the Rosary, scriptural mysteries in song, and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Prayers will be at 6 p.m. Monday, July 16.

A Chicken BBQ and Basket Raffle will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 in the parking lot of Arcaro and Genell Restaurant, 433 S. Main St. The dinner is take out with some limited outside seating. The dinner will be prepared by Arcaro and Genell and included in the $10 ticket price will be ½ BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, pasta salad, and a roll. Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the rectory.

The annual all-you-can-eat pig roast will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8. Takeout dinners will be available all day. Additional seating will be available under an outdoor tent. The menu includes roasted pig on the spit, wimpies, hot dogs, corn on the cob, salads, desserts, soda, and water. There will also be a cash prize grand raffle, basket raffle, children’s games and a bake sale. Tickets, which are $20 for adults, $10 for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and younger, are available in advance or at the event. The 71st annual parish picnic will take place Thursday, Aug. 2, Friday, Aug. 3 and Saturday, Aug. 4 on the church grounds. The next picnic meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 in the church hall. Volunteers are needed. Anyone wishing to volunteer in any area of the picnic is asked to contact the parish office.

A Mass to consecrate the new altar will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 14. Bishop Bambera will celebrate this first Mass in the newly renovated church. All are invited to attend this historic liturgy and see the new church interior for the first time. The final Sunday Mass in the church hall will be Sunday, July 8. The final weekday Mass in the cemetery chapel will be Friday, July 13. Minor work will continue throughout July.

Annual Novena in honor of St. Ann will begin Tuesday, July 17 and continue through Wednesday, July 26, the feast of St. Ann and Joachim, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Novena prayers will be said after all Masses.

Theme basket donations are now being accepted to be raffled off at this year’s picnic. For purposes of uniformity, a minimum value of $35 per basket is requested. All items must be unused.

Non-perishable foods and paper goods are being collected for the food baskets. Donations should be brought to the church hall. Anyone wishing to donate a prize for any of the stands is welcome to do so. Please be sure to designate for which stand the prize is being donated.

The Care and Concern Free Health Clinic is open every Wednesday and is free of charge. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. in the former Seton Catholic High School and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Patients for The Pediatric Health Clinic opens at 4:30 p.m. on the first Thursday and third Thursday of the month at the Care and Concern facility, 37 William St. Children’s immunization records are required upon registration. Parents or guardians must be present to have their child examined. All services are free and confidential.

The Diocese of Scranton is offering the annual Mass in remembrance of victims of violent or tragic death. This Mass is offered for the families and friends of those who have died in tragedy, especially through murder, suicide, and accident. The Mass is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12 in the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 330 Wyoming Ave., Scranton. All persons who have lost a loved one through tragic and traumatic death are invited to this liturgy.
