Holy Hour is held every Wednesday from 6 to 7 p. m. followed by the Mass and the novena prayers to St. Joseph and St. Joseph Marello.

The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held from 6 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday in the seminary chapel at St. Joseph’s Oblate Seminary. It includes recitation of the Rosary and opportunity for confessions. Holy Mass is celebrated at 7 p.m., followed by Novena prayers to St. Joseph and St. Joseph Marello, founder of the Oblates of St. Joseph religious congregation. On Mondays of Lent, Confessions will be heard from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fr. Petro will be available at Sacred Heart Church on April 15.

Stations of the Cross will be prayed in common each Friday evening throughout Lent at 7 p.m. in the church. Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will occur immediately after the Stations. Stations of the Cross will be held on Good Friday at 7 p.m.

Easter Triduum schedule: April 18, Holy Thursday: 7 p.m., Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper and 10 p.m. Eucharistic Reposition and Night Prayer; April 19, Good Friday: 3 p.m. Liturgy and 7 p.m. Stations of the Cross; April 20, Holy Saturday: 9 a.m., morning prayer, 11:30 a.m., blessing of Easter food baskets, 1 p.m., blessing of Easter food baskets and 8 p.m. Easter Vigil Mass; April 21, Easter Sunday Masses: 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 am.

The blessing of Easter food will be held on Holy Saturday, April 20, at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the lot behind the rectory. The faithful are invited to bring the cooked food that they will eat on Easter Sunday in baskets for blessing.

A holy hour of Eucharistic Adoration on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 28, will be held at 3 p.m. in the church. At this time, special prayers will be said and the chaplet will be prayed in common. Confessions will also be heard.

Flea Market – Sacred Heart Church will hold a flea market May 4 and 5 in the church hall. If you have items in good condition you no longer want or need, please drop them off in the church hall Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 to 5 p.m.; and Sundays, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m, through April 21. Items that will be accepted include household items, kitchen items, toys, holiday decorations, books, jewelry, furniture and more. Please note electronics and clothing will not be accepted.

Pro-lifers pray first Fridays

Pro-lifers will pray each First Friday of the month in front of new Planned Parenthood location: 101 N. Main St. Wilkes-Barre, five decades of the rosary at 9 a.m. for an end to abortion and to close this particular Planned Parenthood location. Peaceful, prayful witness on Planned Parenthood sidewalk.

Coats for kids

One of our high school seniors is collecting coats for children for the Care & Concern Clinic for his Honor Society senior project. Located in the vestibule of the church is a box to place gently used coats for children. This box will be available until February.

Our adult choir is looking for new members. See Joelle or Christine, or call the rectory with your name and they will contact you with rehearsal information. Anyone from age 13 up is welcome.
