PITTSTON — The city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be led by the city’s top firefighter.

Fire Chief James T. Rooney will led the seventh annual parade as grand marshal, it was announced this weekend on the parade’s Facebook page.

Rooney was born, raised and educated in Pittston, according to the post. He is the son of James A. Rooney and the late Margaret Mary Hennigan Rooney; and a proud graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School.

He and his wife, Mary Theresa Cosgrove Rooney, have two children — Sean, now living with his wife, Brittany in Duryea, and Katie, who lives in Philadelphia — and one grandchild, Isla Grace Rooney.
