PITTSTON – For parents concerned about occupying their child’s time during the summer hiatus, the City of Pittston has a solution.
The city has a summer program for children between the ages of 6 to 12 residing in Pittston.
The City of Pittston Summer Playground Program will run for eight weeks from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at Sullivan Park beginning on June 17 and concluding on Aug. 9. Each week will have a fun theme for children to enjoy.
“Our program will offer a variety of activities from team games to arts and crafts,” Mary Kroptavich, Pittston City Downtown Pittston Partnership director, said. “As the city’s parks and green spaces continue to grow, we hope to create quality summertime experiences for our youngest citizens during this new program.”
The qualified Park Supervisors are first aid and CPR certified and have all PA childcare clearances.
There will be programming each week with a different theme, so children can expect to learn a variety of new skills, while staying outdoors and making new friends.
The weekly themes are: Week 1 – Sports, Week 2 – Superheroes, Week 3 – Red, White, & Blue, Week 4 – Safari, Week 5 – Wild, Wild West, Week 6 – Pirates & Mermaids, Week 7 – Disney and Week 8 – Carnival.
The cost per week per child will be $25 and children can be enrolled for multiple weeks throughout the summer. Each child must be registered separately.
The weekly program will max out at 24 children, so signups are expected to fill quickly. If you are interested in enrolling your child in this program, please visit https://tinyurl.com/43zeccav.
