Traffic will be restricted on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 1 for the Wyoming Valley Run, presented by Allied Services.
The race is a 10-mile run from Pittston to Wilkes-Barre. It begins on South Main Street in Pittston near the Tomato Festival Lot proceeds over the Fort Jenkins Bridge and follows Wyoming Avenue until Market Street in Kingston.
The race enters Wilkes-Barre over the Market Street Bridge and continues on North River, Union, North State and East Market streets. The finish line will be at Public Square in Wilkes-Barre. An interactive map is available online at thewyomingvalleyrun.com/course/.
Following is a schedule of estimated closure times.
Start to Mile 1. South Main Street in Pittston, Fort Jenkins Bridge and Wyoming Avenue in West Pittston, all lanes closed, 7:45 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.
Mile 1 to Mile 2. Wyoming Avenue in West Pittston and Exeter, all lanes closed, 7:50 a.m. to 8:40 a.m.
Mile 2 to Mile 3. Wyoming Avenue in Exeter and Wyoming, all lanes closed until 8th Street. Both northbound lanes closed after 8th Street, 7:55 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Mile 3 to Mile 4, Wyoming Avenue in Wyoming, both northbound lanes closed, 8 a.m. to 9:20 a.m.
Mile 4 to Mile 5, Wyoming Avenue in Wyoming and Forty Fort, both northbound lanes closed in Wyoming; one northbound lane closed upon entering Forty Fort, 8:15 a.m. to 9:40 a.m.
Mile 5 to Mile 6, Wyoming Avenue in Forty Fort, one northbound lane closed, 8:10 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Mile 6 to Mile 7, Wyoming Avenue in Forty Fort and Kingston, one northbound lane closed, 8:15 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.
Mile 7 to Mile 8, Wyoming Avenue in Kingston, one northbound lane closed, 8:20 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.
Mile 8 to Mile 9, Market Street in Kingston, one northbound lane closed, 8:25 a.m.to 11 a.m.
Mile 9 to Mile 10, North River Street, Union Street, North State Street and East Market Streets, Wilkes-Barre, westbound lanes closed on Market Street Bridge, all lanes closed in Wilkes-Barre, 8:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.
Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, lanes closed on three sides; side connecting West Market and South Main streets remains open, 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Local police, EM and public safety officials are assisting to ensure a safe and fun event.
Dubbed “NEPA’s flattest and fastest inclusive road race,” the Wyoming Valley Run presented by Allied Services will benefit Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, The Cancer Wellness Center of NEPA, the Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA, Northeast Sight Services and Wyoming Valley Children’s Association.
