The Greater Pittston YMCA will offer Healthy Living classes next year.

PITTSTON — The Greater Pittston YMCA will offer Healthy Living classes starting in January 2025, according to Kasey Lukaszewski, YMCA chronic disease prevention program director.

“Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and staying active as an older adult is essential for preserving physical and mental well-being,” Lukaszewski said. “Regular exercise can help reduce the risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis while improving mobility and balance. Staying active also boosts mood, enhances cognitive function, and contributes to a longer, more fulfilling life.”

The programs are free to the people age 60 and older with no membership required, thanks to partnering with the Area Agency on Aging and its Health & Wellness Program.

Programs beginning in 2025 are:

• Matter of Balance, a fall prevention program beginning in Feb. 2025.

• Strong & Balanced, low impact exercise at 10:30 a.m. each Monday.

• Fit & Strong, arthritis management for activity starting in Jan. 2025.

• AFAP: Aqua aerobics for arthritis with multiple sessions each week.

• Gerifit, low aerobic and strength classes at 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
