Chair Yoga at the Library is a six-week series lead by Lisa Galico that costs $60 per person. The program will be held at 2:30 p.m. every Monday beginning June 11 and concluding July 23. There will be no program July 2 for the Independence Day holiday.

Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, June 11 to discuss “The Girls in the Garden.” Copies are available at the front desk, but are limited.

WEST PITTSTON LIBRARY

The Literary Snoops Book Club now meets at the West Pittston Library at 12:15 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month. Participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch for the discussion.

Writing Workshops will be held at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of every month and will be led by Jaime Marino, a recent English honors graduate from King’s College. The dates of the workshops are July 3, July 17, Aug. 7 and Aug. 21.

Enjoys movies at 5:30 p.m. every other Thursday this summer. The schedule is as follows: June 21, “The Great Gatsby”; July 5, “West Side Story”; July 19, “Grease”; Aug. 2, “Dirty Dancing”; Aug. 16, “La La Land.”

Social Media for Seniors will provide senior residents a basic introduction to the world of social media. Programs will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays. The schedule is as follows: June 25, Facebook; July 30, Twitter; Aug. 13, Instagram. Call the library to reserve a spot.

The Children’s Summer Reading Program is about to take off at 200 Exeter Ave. The goal is to keep your child reading for more minutes, hours, and days this summer with less time button-pushing in front of a screen. This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock.” Summer Belles, Youth Services Coordinator, will explore musical instruments, sounds of nature, and various styles of composition and dance. Teens are also a very important part of the SRP and we have something special planned just for them. There will be sheet music art projects, making dream catchers and mandalas, rock painting and much more. Summer reading signups will be held Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m.

Open sewing and craft workshops will have sewing machines and space for those working on sewing projects of their own. Participants are to bring their own crochet, knitting, embroidery, zentanle, drawing or any other project to work with. These workshops are available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. the following Tuesdays — June 26, July 31 and Aug. 28. Call the library to register.

Make musical festival blankets at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 28. This is a sewing machine class and basic knowledge of sewing is helpful, but not required. Cost is $10 to participate.

Learn to turn your old CDs into drink coasters at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 12.

Learn how to make an easy leather clutch that will be the finishing touch to any outfit at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 26. Minimum sewing is involved.

Convert everyday rocks into a trendy potted cactus garden at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9. Cost to participate is $5.

Paint rocks with relaxing mandala-like designs and heartfelt messages to leave around town and to gift to others at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23.

Join reptile enthusiast Greg as he discusses the slow-moving world of tortoises at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27.

And end-of-summer reading party will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31. Music, refreshments and activities will be included.

The West Pittston Walkers will meet at 9 a.m. every Friday. This group is for exercise and camaraderie as members take strolls throughout the neighborhood.

WYOMING FREE LIBRARY

A children’s produce market will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 23. Registration forms are available at the front desk. The last day to register is 10 a.m. Monday, June 18.

Registration for summer reading will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18. Parents can call the library or register in person. A complete list of activities is available at the front desk, on the library web page and Facebook.

A writer’s group will meet at 3 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month. The workshop is led by King’s College English honors graduate, Jaime Marino. The next workshop is scheduled for Thursday, June 21. The workshop is for ages 18 and older. All writer levels are welcome

Pete Kondrosky will host a hands-on class about 35mm photography from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 22. The class will include operation of lens openings and F-stops, flash instruction, operation of shutter speeds and more. Registration is required and space is limited. Students will need to bring their own camera with instruction book. Contact the library to register.

Children’s author Kathy Miller will visit the library from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10. Miller is the author of the Chippy Chipmunk series. She will have a nature program, book signing and photos with Chippy. Books can be pre-ordered or purchased the day of the event.

Reading help will be available at the library for children in grades 1 to 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. every Wednesday. Call the library to register.

LAFLIN PUBLIC LIBRARY

The library’s summer hours will be as follows from June 19 to Aug. 31: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday; Closed Sunday and Monday.

The summer reading program for children ages 3 and older will begin Saturday, June 23 and conclude Saturday, Aug. 11 with a pizza party and prizes.
