PITTSTON — Greater Pittston Ambulance Rescue Service Association was awarded a Community Facilities Direct Grant and Loan by the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The award, announced by U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, includes a loan of $66,000 and a grant of $50,000.
The funds will be used to purchase a 2018 Ford E 550 4×4 Horton 457 Ambulance, which will replace an old ambulance totaled during an accident.
The Greater Pittston Ambulance Rescue Service Association is one of the only regional emergency medical providers in the area. It provides services to Pittston City, as well as neighboring communities. Also operated by the association is a community-based paramedic service, designated as Luzerne County Medic 29.
