Fall hours are as follows: Noon to 7 p.m., Monday and Thursday; Closed, Wednesday and Sunday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

Chair yoga will be held every Monday as a weekly series at the price of $50 per person. Space is limited and reservations will be made on a first-come/first-serve basis. To reserve a spot, call or stop by the library with full payment. Checks may be made out to Lisa Galico. The final date for the program is 2:30 p.m Oct. 22.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive Thursday, Oct. 25. Register online by call 1-800-733-2767. If registering online, go to the website www.redcross.org, click on “Find a Blood Drive” under the tab “Give Blood.” Enter Pittston’s zip code of 18640 and click on “Find a Drive.” If you click “By Distance” along the left hand side, our blood drive should be one of the first ones to pop up. Click on the Pittston Memorial Library and choose your time.

The Scarecrow Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. The event includes balloons, face painting, 25-cent carnival games, a bake sale, apple and pumpkin pie contest and voting for your favorite scarecrow.

A Taste of Greater Pittston will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. Patrons can sample food from local restaurants and caterers, beer from local brewery’s and wine from local wineries.

A Free Health Fair will be held Thursday, Nov. 8. This is the chance to speak with representatives about any health needs.

The next Page Turners Tween Book Club meeting will be at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8. Participants will discuss “Dave at Night” by Gale Carson Levine. There will be a craft related to the book and a snake.

The Usborne Books & More Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10; noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13. This will be set up in the Children’s Wing of the library.

WEST PITTSTON LIBRARY

Movie Nights for Adults will be held at 5:30 p.m. every other Thursday. The dates and movies are as follows: Oct. 25 — “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Nov. 8 — “Jurassic Park,” Nov. 29 — “A Wrinkle in Time.”

Computer Lab Saturdays will be held from 10 a.m. to noon the first and third Saturday of each month on the following dates: Nov. 3 and Nov. 17.

Writer’s Workshops will be held at 6 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month to challenge and inspire the poet or storyteller in you with writing exercises, coaching, and community. The dates are as follows: Nov. 1 and Nov. 15.

The West Pittston Walkers will meet at 9 a.m. the first and third Fridays of each month on the following dates: Nov. 2 and Nov. 16. They will also meet at 6 p.m.Thursday, Oct. 25.

PBS is hosting an eight-part series designed to get the country reading and talking about books. Join the PBS nationwide book club and vote for your favorites while watching The Great American Read on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. The library will be hosting two viewings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will meet at 6 p.m. the following Tuesdays: Nov. 13.

Beginner’s Crochet Class will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15.

Children can enjoy Halloween games and crafts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Learn about the History of Halloween at 6 :30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29.

WYOMING FREE LIBRARY

The Wyoming Free Library will hold October Amnesty Month Patrons can bring in cans of grain free dog food and paper towels, along with their overdue items and have the fines waived. Fines will not be waived for previous fines, damaged or lost materials, lost library cards or items that belong to other libraries in Luzerne County. People can donate even if they don’t have overdue materials. All items collected will be donated to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge.

A children’s produce market will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. The market is open to all Luzerne County families with children. Registration is required and ends at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22. Applications are available at the library.

The library is hosting a Krispy Kreme Doughnut fundraiser. The cost is $8 per dozen glazed doughnuts and $7 per half dozen of flavored doughnuts (chocolate iced, lemon filled, raspberry filled or cream filled. The same ends Thursday, Oct. 25 and pick-up date between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30. Orders can be placed at the circulation desk and money is due when the order is placed.

LAFLIN PUBLIC LIBRARY

Children visiting the library and borrowing a book throughout October may enter their name to a random drawing for a basket filled with treats for Halloween. Winner will be notified on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The library is holding a Halloween pet photo costume contest. Photos may be submitted by dropping them off at the library or by e-mailing laflinlibrary@yahoo.com. Include your pet’s name and contact information. Patrons visiting the library from Tuesday, Oct. 16 through Tuesday, Oct. 30 can vote for their favorite photo. The pet photo with the most votes will win a Halloween prize.
