Little Eric’s Foundation (LEF) board members, family and friends participated in the 13th annual Cycle for Survival at the Equinox Gyms in NYC on March 9.

Cycle was founded by Jennifer Goodman Linn in 2007. After a diagnosis of a rare cancer, she sparked a movement that has raised over $250 billion for research and is held in 16 cities in the US.

Jennifer lost her battle in 2011, but the movement to raise money for research continues and, since 2009, has been owned and operated by Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, New York, NY., with Equinox as its founding partner. One hundred percent of all monies raised goes directly to research; no indirect costs are funded by these projects.

Jessica Speicher, president of LEF and mother of Eric Speicher Jr., was one of the keynote speakers at the event. She delivered the emotional journey of Eric Jr. over his 2 1/2 years of treatment for an ependymoma, a brain tumor. Eric gained his angel wings on Dec. 23, 2013, at the age of 14.

Pediatric cancers are a rare cancer and LEF participates and contributes to pediatric cancer researchers. This year LEF donated over $40,000. LEF a 501(c)(3) organization is committed to raising awareness to pediatric cancers, financially assists children and their families battling this disease and funding pediatric cancer research.
