PITTSTON — Members of American Legion Post #447 will conduct memorial services honoring deceased and living veterans on Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m. at the Samuel Miceli Veteran’s Park on Kennedy Boulevard.

Commander Thomas Moran will oversee the program, which will include an opening prayer, patriotic songs, veteran prayers, remarks by local dignitaries, Representative Michael Carroll, Judge Fred Pierontoni and Judge Joseph Augello. A moment of silence will be observed as a bell is rung honoring veterans from all wars and conflicts and the playing of Taps.

Joseph Savakinus, Adjutant Commander, is serving as coordinator of the memorial service.

The veterans park was the inspiration of Samuel Miceli, a veteran of World War II, who petition Mayor Thomas Walsh and members of the city council for the piece of property facing the Susquehanna River to convert into a veterans park to honor and remember all veteran’s living and deceased.
