PITTSTON — The students at the Martin F. Quinn Primary Center are participating in the Phillies Phanatic About Reading program presented by Comcast. The program was formulated to motivate students in grades K through 8 to read a piece of literature of their choice for a minimum of 15 minutes per night. All first-grade classes are taking part in the program.

As part of the program, the children will have a chance to receive a special Phillies Phanatic visit for the entire school by being one of the top performing classrooms in the program. In order to qualify for a Phanatic visit, the classroom teachers will tell the Phillies how the children have done in the reading endeavors by using an online evaluation form.

All children have received a reading log to keep track of their nightly reading. The reading log should be returned to the classroom teacher to verify participation.

Two participating readers from each classroom will be selected to be honored prior to a Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia during Comcast Phanatic about Reading Night. All children who participate will have their names entered a drawing to be selected for this special treat. Reading logs must be returned by January 29, 2018.
