Bella Dessoye had a dozen points during a second-quarter outburst Feb. 7 to carry Pittston Area past host Tunkhannock 58-20 in a non-league girls basketball game.
The victory was the fourth of five straight by Pittston Area to end the regular season.
The Lady Patriots led just 8-7 two minutes into the second quarter before Dessoye helped them break away.
It was an assist by Dessoye that got things started, setting up a Leah Drozginski basket.
Dessoye then had the next nine points in the first of two 11-point streaks by Pittston Area in the quarter. Following Drozginski’s basket, Dessoye stole the in-bounds pass and turned it into a three-point play. Dessoye followed it up with consecutive 3-pointers.
After Tunkhannock scored its only basket of the quarter, Giuliana Latona drove for a basket and Lili Hintze scored on the fastbreak to begin the next 11-point streak.
Dessoye hit another 3-pointer before the Lady Patriots got to the basket twice for a 30-9 halftime lead. Latona scored off a backcourt steal and Drozginski added a late fastbreak basket.
Pittston Area turned it into a Mercy Rule game with a 19-4 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Julia Long finished with 15 points and Latona added 10.
Elizabeth Moore led Tunkhannock with 10 points.
Lake-Lehman 63, Wyoming Area 37
Kinley Purdy scored 23 points Tuesday when Lake-Lehman defeated Wyoming Area in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 finale.
Londyn Sobeck had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Wariors.
