Pittston Area won four times, including beating rival Wyoming Area, to jump to the top of the Wyoming Valley Conference golf standings.

The Patriots and Warriors (2-2) were the busiest WVC teams in the first 10 days of the season, each playing four matches.

Three other WVC teams went into the weekend unbeaten. Dallas is 3-0, Crestwood 2-0 and Lake-Lehman 1-0.

The conference’s teams are scheduled to get together Monday for the annual Tom Tryba Memorial Tournament at Fox Hill Country Club.

Pittston Area 152, Wyoming Area 164

Patrick Ruane shot a 2-under-par, 33 to lead the way as Pittston Area won Wednesday at Fox Hill.

Ruane reached the par-5 sixth hole in two and drained a long putt for an eagle.

The Patriots had the best two scores with Noah Gruber adding a 38.

Nick Cook shot 40 and Chris Scavo 41. Andrew Nocito had a 42.

Kristin Plugliese and Mario Belza each shot 40 to lead Wyoming Area.

Pittston Area 163, Hanover Area 235

Pittston Area routed visiting Hanover Area Friday to reach 4-0.

Patrick Ruane shot even-par, 35 to make it 18 straight holes without a bogey.

Lake-Lehman 155, Wyoming Area 180

Charlie Weidner shot a 1-under-par, 35 at Huntsville Golf Club to lead Lake-Lehman to victory Friday.

A.J. Borchert added a 37.

Mario Belza led Wyoming Area with a 41. Mitchell Rusinchak (45), Jeremy Layland (46) and Joseph Orda (48) completed the team score.

Pittston Area 163, Berwick 174

Nick Cook and Patrick Ruane led the way as Pittston Area won at Berwick Tuesday.

Berwick’s Jackson Matosh was medalist with a 3-over-par, 39.

Noah Gruber had a 41 and Andrew Nocito 42 for the Patriots.

Pittston Area 164, Tunkhannock 188

Pittston Area opened the season Monday by handling Tunkhannock when every Patriot beat every Tiger’s score.

Patrick Ruane was medalist with a 3-over-par, 38 and Pittston Area got 45s or better from the entire lineup.

Chris Scavo shot 40 and Andrew Nocito added a 43. Nick Cook, Kyle Franchetti and Ryan Noone each shot 45.

Wyoming Area 167, Nanticoke 235

Wyoming Area made it a 2-0 start with its romp at Edgewood-in-the-Pines Monday.

Old Forge finished ninth out of 19 teams at Elkview Country Club Monday in the season-opening event for Lackawanna League boys teams.

Ryan DeMarco led the Blue Devils, shooting an 83 to finish to tie for 19th out of 121 players.

Joey Revello shot 90, Connor Krushnowski shot 92 and D.J. Fox shot 98 to complete the Old Forge team score in the format, which took the best four scores out of up to six players on each team.

Ben Boyanoski and Cole Powell finished first and second to lead Scranton Prep to the title 304-314 over defending champion Abington Heights. Boyanoski shot even-par, 72, one shot better than Powell.

Robby Lucas won the low senior award, finishing tied for fourth overall with Abington Heights teammate Luke Swank. Scranton Prep had the low sophomore in Jack Pavuk, who shot 80, and the low freshman, with Brendan Bell’s 79. Riverside’s Kyle Connor was low junior with a 79.
