WEST PITTSTON – Lindsey Pozaic had one personal goal for Senior Night.

“My goal was to score at least one goal on Senior Night,” Pozaic said. “It’s my last game on this field. I wanted to go out with a bang.”

Pozaic got her goal out of the way in a hurry, scoring just 11 seconds into the game to send Wyoming Area on its way to a 15-6 victory over visiting Pittston Area at Jake Sobeski Stadium.

There were many other reasons for the Lady Warriors to celebrate.

The first senior class to have had the sport available through all its high school years– this is the fourth season of lacrosse at Wyoming Area – featured 14 players, many of whom had been there since Day One.

The team has improved quickly in that time and, despite the large graduating class, has cause to think positively about the future.

Monday’s win was a school record sixth in a row, improving Wyoming Area to 7-2 on the season.

After an all-senior starting lineup made sure Wyoming Area never trailed, sophomore Cassidy Orzel and freshman Emma Kelleher helped break the game open.

Orzel scored five goals and Kelleher scored four while several youth lacrosse players, and anticipated future Lady Warriors, watched from the bleachers.

Other seniors made their contributions.

Lila Donnelly scored three times and Pozaic had two assists to go along with her goal.

Those assists represented what Pozaic said is part of the reason for this season’s success.

“We really work all well together,” Pozaic said. “There were two goals where it went Cassidy Orzel on the draw to Madi Johnson to me and then to Emma Kelleher.

“It went off perfect twice.”

Two senior defenders also got involved in the scoring. Bella Waltz scored a goal and Hannah Hinkle had an assist.

Amanda McCormick also scored while Caitlin McDonough and Tierney Porfirio also had assists.

Mary Kate O’Brien had four saves in the win.

Bailey Jordan had a hat trick for half of Pittston Area’s goals and also had an assist.

Nina Cirelli, Julia Emmett and Lily Savoy also scored. Emily O’Brien had an assist.
