MOOSIC – Wyoming Area third baseman Dylan Melberger and Pittston Area outfielder Kyle Ralston have been selected to play for the Wyoming Valley Conference Big School team that will participate in the sixth annual Field of Dreams Game June 24 at PNC Field.

The senior all-star baseball event has been expanded this year and will feature a doubleheader as teams from both the WVC and Lackawanna League have been split into small school and big school teams. The small school game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., followed by the big schools at approximately 4.

The 17-member WVC Big School team also includes players from Dallas, Hazleton Area, Wyoming Valley West, Nanticoke, Tunkhannock, Coughlin, Berwick and Crestwood.

Tunkhannock’s Gary Custer will manage the WVC Big School team and GAR’s Kyle Paul will lead the Small Schools.

Jamie Higgins from Scranton and Sandy Menichetti from Holy Cross will manage the Lackawanna League teams.

Each player named to the team will be honored on the field before the June 21 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders International League game against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Admission is $5 with a portion of proceeds going to the Bill Howerton Strike Out Cancer Scholarship Fund.
