Avoca/Dupont LL fall registrations are July 23

AVOCA — The Avoca/Dupont Little League will conduct registration for the fall season from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 23 at the little league field.

The league is accepting registrations for coach pitch, minor, and major league players.

The cost is $25 per player.

The season normally begins in late August and ends in early October.

If the player participated in the spring season, no residency verification is necessary at registration. If the player has moved or did not play in the spring season residency verification is required.

Stan Waleski Basketball Camp begins July 23

PITTSTON — Openings are available in the Stan Waleski Basketball Camp set for 9 a.m. to noon at the Greater Pittston YMCA from Monday, July 23 to Friday, 27 and Monday, July 30 to Friday, Aug 3.

This camp is for boys and girls in grade 2 through 8.

Interested players are invited to attend one or both camp weeks.

The camp stresses skills, fundamentals, competitions, team play and fun with all players receiving a camp certificate and t shirt. The camp also features grouping by age and grade in boys and girls divisions.

NEPA Wolfpack tryouts are Aug. 2

SCRANTON — NEPA Wolfpack 14U girl’s travel softball team will hold tryouts for its upcoming fall 2018 and summer 2019 season from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2 at Riverfront Sports Complex, 5 West Olive St.

PA Field Hockey camp is Aug. 6-10

HUGHESTOWN — The Pittston Area field hockey team will host a summer camp Monday, Aug. 6 to Friday, Aug. 10 for students in grades 2 thorugh 8 at the Primary Center top field, 210 Rock St.

The camp will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. daily students do not have to be part of the Pittston Area School District to attend.

Players are required to bring their own mouth guard, but all other equipment will be provided if needed.

Firefighter Softball Tournament is Aug. 10-12

AVOCA — The Avoca/Dupont Little League will host the annual Avoca Firefighter Softball Tournament from Friday, Aug. 10 through Sunday, Aug. 12.

The league operates the concession stand during the tournament as a fundraiser.

Miles for Michael is Aug. 18

PITTSTON — The Miles for Michael/ Tomato Festival 5K and Fun Walk will be held Saturday, Aug. 18 with a 10 a.m. start from the Greater Pittston YMCA, Main Street.

Avoca/Dupont LL meeting is Aug. 19

AVOCA — The next monthly meeting for the Avoca/Dupont Little League will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at the little league field.

Among the items to be discussed will be the fall season, as well as the regular league business.

All fall season coaches are required to attend the meeting.

TAYLOR — The Thomas P. Durkin Memorial Avoca Open will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 with an 8 a.m. Shot Gun Start at Pine Hills Golf Course.

Cost is $90 per golfer which includes course fees, golf cart, cash prizes, and luncheon to follow at the West Side Club. Format is Captain & Mate.

Gibbons Ford of Dickson City will award a new Auto to the First Hole in one on a Designated Hole.
