Stephen Walski and Paul Shaffer each posted top-100 finishes Oct. 7 in the 23rd annual Steamtown Marathon

Walski, a 36-year-old from West Wyoming, was 82nd out of 1,238 finishers with a time of 3:17:37.

Shaffer, 49, from West Pittston, was 98th, completing the 26.2-mile course from Forest City to Scranton in 3:20:11.

Suleman Abrar Shifa, an Ethiopian now living in Bronx, N.Y., won in 2:26:37.

Heidi Peoples, a former state track champion from Riverside and all-American at Moravian University, won her fifth women’s title. She was the only female runner to break three hours, reaching the finish in 2:55:26.

Among other runners to finish in less than four hours were: 171st, Ryan Grochal, 35M, Harding, 3:32:05; 331st, Michael Coco, 56M, Exeter, 3:49:01; 395th, Joseph Boos, 49M, Wyoming, 3:55:16; 397th, Deedra Porfirio, 42F, Exeter, 3:55:42.
