Kaitlyn Connors and Olivia Norwillo each won four events Wednesday when Pittston Area defeated visiting Coughlin, 128-54, in to finish the Wyoming Valley Conference girls swimming season at .500.

The Lady Patriots went 6-6 in the conference.

Connors won the 200-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke. Norwillo won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.

Both were on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.

Kiersten Grieco won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle to help Pittston Area pull out the close win in Monday’s WVC meet.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Matt Marchetti scored 27 points for MMI Prep in Monday’s WVC crossover game.

Daniel Wiedl led Wyoming Area with 15 points.

The Warriors finished 1-15, tied for fifth in the six-team WVC Division 2 and were 2-20 overall.

Pittston Area 61

Wyoming Valley West 47

Brennan Higgins and Logan Booth each scored 15 points to lead Pittston Area to the WVC Division 1 win in its regular-season finale Feb. 9.

The Patriots finished fourth of six teams in Division 1 with a 9-7 WVC record. They are 13-9 overall.

Andrew Krawczyk and Sevion Leak each added 10 points.

Cole Coolbaugh drained seven 3-pointers while scoring 23 points for Wyoming Area the Feb. 9 loss to the WVC Division 2 champions.

Jake Greenfield added eight points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lake-Lehman 63

Lake-Lehman jumped out to an 18-3 lead after one quarter of the Feb. 9 WVC Division 2 finale.

Nicole Silinskie led Wyoming Area with 17 points with the help of four 3-pointers.

The Lady Warriors finished 4-13 for last in the six-team division and 6-16 overall.

WRESTLING

Wyoming Valley West 45

Wyoming Area won four of the seven bouts that were contested in Thursday’s non-league road match, but was hurt by five forfeits.

Connor Wrobleski had a first-period pin at 138 pounds.

Robin Wrobleski, at 170, and Vincent Bowers, at 182, also had pins while Jaryn Polit-Moran won by decision at 195.

Salisbury Duals

Pittston Area went 3-2 during the Feb. 9 dual meet tournament at Salisbury Township High School.

The Patriots started by beating Berwick, 57-16, and Twin Valley, 51-12.

After losing to Quakertown, 78-3, and Warwick, 48-21, Pittston Area defeated Salisbury Township, 48-21.

A.J. Gorto and Justin Bryk were each 4-1 with two pins. Bryk pulled out a one-point decision for one of his wins.

Keith Romanczuk went 3-1 with two pins, one of them in the first period, in his first action of the season.
