Wyoming Area will try to produce at least one champion for the 10th straight year when the District 2 Wrestling Championships are held Friday and Saturday at Hazleton Area.

Action begins Friday at 5 p.m. and resumes Saturday at 10 a.m.

Freshman Connor Wrobleski is the team’s only number-one seed. He takes a 29-10 record into competition at 138 pounds.

Senior Robin Wrobleski is one of the team’s two second seeds. His 30 wins is the most in the 170-pound bracket.

Robin Wrobleski was fourth in the district last season and fifth as a sophomore.

Jaryn Polit-Moran, at 195 pounds, is the other second seed for the Warriors.

Wyoming Area also has Kyle Emsley (119) and Vincent Bowers (182) seeded fourth.

Defending district champion Corey Mruk is not entered. Mruk wrestled just once this season, in last week’s win over Pittston Area, after suffering a leg injury during the football playoffs.

Pittston Area, which competes in Class 3A, does not a wrestler seeded in the top four in any weight class.
