Both Pittston Area teams won one match in the District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional boys tennis doubles tournament before being eliminated Wednesday at the Wilkes University courts.

Adam Musto and Tom Dessoye reached the quarterfinals by winning in the tournament’s first full round.

Musto-Dessoye defeated Hazleton Area’s Kittrick-Danzeisen-Gavin Ashman, 6-2, 6-1. Adam Vale-Jake Rosenstein from Abington Heights then beat Musto-Dessoye, 6-1, 6-2, in the quarterfinals.

Peter Fox-Sal Turonis beat Hazleton Area’s Ben Sabato-Matt Yanochko, 7-5, 6-4, in the preliminary round then lost to fourth-seeded Pete Wilson-Matt Lombardo from Delaware Valley, 6-1, 6-1.

Wyoming Area played in the District 2 Class 2A tournament at Kirby Park at the same time.

Mike Abromavage-Jacob Butwin opened in the preliminary round with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Honesdale’s Gibbs Goodenough-George Legg, then lost to top-seeded Alex DeRome-John Toussaint from Dallas, 6-1, 6-0.

Scranton Prep’s Daniel Zych-Matthew Tatulli defeated Wyoming Area’s Adam Wisniewski-Patrick Musinski, 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5.
