The Pittston Area 400-meter relay team finished 21st out of 34 teams in Class 3A girls Friday in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.

The team of Jenna Smith, Olivia Norwillo, Katelyn Wesp and Jakiya Kroon finished in 49.84 seconds, eight-hundredths of a second faster than its District 2 winning time of last week.

The Lady Patriots needed to get into the top eight in order to reach Saturday’s final.

Track and field came to an end for Greater Pittston athletes with the elimination of the relay team and one individual girl each from Pittston Area and Wyoming Area.

Wyoming Area’s Madelyn Resciniti placed 22nd out of 30 in the Class 3A shot put with 34-11 ¼.

Kroon was 30th out of 31 entries in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.86.
