WEST PITTSTON — Step right up to the West Pittston Library’s Winter Carnival Cocktail Celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Test your strength at a two-hour open bar accompanied by a carousel of heavy hors d’oeuvres at Fox Hill Country Club. Also, see what the future holds with our Tarot Card Reader. A Mardi Gras Carnival will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17. This jamboree will be filled with jazz music while the kids create their own masks and beaded necklaces, decorate their own parade float, play musical king crowns, throw beads and sample some New Orleans cuisine. We’ll end the program with a parade of floats! Every participant is required to bring their own shoe box. Call to register.

A program called “Home Design Trends for 2015” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19. Join Jack Wise Interiors as they discuss the hottest design trends for the home. They’ll also introduce the Pantone color of the year and how to use it in your own home decorating.

Pamper Me Pretty will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. Rejuvenate your skin with a natural brown sugar hand scrub and concoct a soothing facial mask to take home. We’ll play spin the (nail polish) bottle, have a hand-squeeze race, apply makeup blindfolded and take the M&M challenge, because who doesn’t love chocolate?

Painting Wine-Handed will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27. Cost is $20. Wilkes University’s art department faculty, Lisa Reynolds, will help you unleash your inner VanGogh (without the loss of your ear). Enjoy painting, cheese and crackers as well as wine while you create your very own work of art. Bring your own smock and great attitude. Participants must be 21 or older.

Weekly Story Time is held at 1 p.m. every Friday. Register by Wednesday of each week. Registration is required for this free program.

LibLab is held at 6 p.m. monthly on Tuesdays. The Library Laboratory is back to engage children ages 9 and up in science-based, hands-on learning activities. Measure, mix, compare, experiment and test in a fun environment. Class size is limited so sign up early. Supply list available at sign-up.

Extreme Rainbow Loom Designs will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. These advanced techniques are for skilled loomers only. All participants must supply their own loom, rubber bands, hook and c-clips. Registration is required for this free program.
