The following are candidates running for Pittston Area School Board:
Arthur Bobbouine
Arthur Bobbouine, a lifelong resident of Pittston, graduated from Pittston Area High School, The University of Scranton and Penn State University Dickinson School of Law. He is a full-time instructor and externship coordinator at Fortis Institute in Forty Fort. He has served as Luzerne County’s Chief Deputy Sheriff and the Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts for Luzerne County.
He has been active in his community being elected to the Pittston City Home Rule Study Commission serving as the treasurer and on the Transition Committee for the new form of government. He also coaches baseball at the Pittston Little League. He is a certified Notary Public in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Bobbouine is also a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Marello Parish and vice president of the Hughestown Cemetery Association.
He is married to the former Trish Sgarlat and has two children, Arthur, 8, a second-grader at Pittston Intermediate Center, and Giovanna, 3. He is the son of Donna Ritz Bobbouine and the late Arthur L. Bobbouine, of Pittston.
Robert Breymeier III
Robert Breymeier III, a lifelong resident of Pittston Township and a son of Robert and Antonia Deluca Breymeier, was a mutli-sport letter winner in track, football and basketball..
Breymeier is a 1992 graduate of Pittston Area High School. He attended King’s College, Lackawanna Junior College and Luzerne County Community College and has been employed by UPS since July 1994.
He is a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters 401, a former union steward and a member of the Dupont Lions Club.
Charles A. Sciandra
Charles A. Sciandra formed the CAS Group, a consulting company in Duryea that provides succession and strategic planning for smaller family-run businesses.
Sciandra holds degrees from King’s College and graduate degrees from The University of Scranton. He began his career as a teacher at Pittston Area and is credited for developing the major foot print that was once Bevaco Food Service to what is now U.S. Foods.
He most recently served CEO of Barjan, LLC in Rock Island, Illinois, a national distributor to the truck and travel industry. His other experience includes time spent as CEO of Pitco Foods, San Jose, California; president, Little Caesars Distribution, Farmington Hills, Michigan; as well as management positions with Maines Paper and Foodservice, Conklin, New York; and Smart & Final/American Foodservice, Miami, Florida.
Sciandra has served on corporate boards and provided consulting services to corporations such as PepsiCo/Tricon Restaurants, Traverse Bay Capital Partners, Synergy Capital, Carrigan Capital Partners and Monomy Capital.
Internationally, Sciandra has provided marketing and distribution expertise to companies in China, Vietnam, and importing of Italian products from Italy, Spain and Argentina to U.S. markets.
He is presently a member of the Pittston Area Board of Education.
A 25-year resident of Duryea, he resides with his wife Carol, the former Carol Shemanski, of Avoca. They have two sons, Joseph and Charles, and a number of grandchildren.
Rosanne Ricotta
Rosanne Ricotta, of Hughestown, is a 1968 graduate of Pittston Area High School and a 1972 graduate of College Misericordia.
She was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, retiring after nearly 36 years of service. She worked 24 years for the Bureaus of Disability Determination and held the positions of Training Coordinator, Adjunction Supervisor and Claims Adjudicator. Twice, she was awarded the Social Security Regional Commissioner’s “Award for Excellence” in Training and Supervision.
A 2011 graduate of the Leadership Wilkes-Barre Masters Program, she is currently a member of the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce Women’s Network, chairperson of St. Joseph Marello Parish Pastoral Council, coordinator of parish confirmation and an active church lector and volunteer. She is a past member of the Pittston City Cluster Committee, Diocese of Scranton.
Richard Gorzkowski
Richard Gorzkowski is a businessman and lifelong resident of Pittston Township.
Gorzkowski was educated in the Pittston Area School District and received his bachelor of science degree in accounting from Wilkes University. He currently serves as vice president and CFO of Modern Gas Sales, Inc.
Gorzkowski currently serves on the Pittston Area Board of Education. Both of his daughters are students in the Pittston Area School District.
