These candidates running for Pittston Area School Board in the May Primary Election are running as the “PA First Team” and their slogan is “New Faces with New Ideas.” All three are cross-filed as Democrats and Republicans and there are five openings for the elected positions.
Maria Giamber Noone
Maria Giamber Noone is a graduate of Pittston Area High School and attended Luzerne County Community College and Wilkes University. She is employed by Trinity Pharmacy Services of Bethlehem as a Senior Account Executive servicing long term care facilities.
Noone is a member of the Pittston YMCA, volunteers and supports the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in Clarks Summit. She is a former President of the Pittston City Little League Booster Club and a member of Saint John’s Evangelist Church in Pittston.
She and her husband Greg reside in Pittston and have two children, Gregory, of Arizona, and Alexa, a ninth-grade student at Pittston Area High School. Noone is the daughter of Sam Giamber and the late Anita Osticco Giamber.
Michael Crawford
Michael “Kid” Crawford is a veteran of the United States Navy and recently retired from a position with the federal government after 38 years.
Crawford attended Pittston Area High School and is a graduate of Luzerne County Community College with an Associate’s Degree in business management. Along with his son Michael Jr., he is co-owner of By-Pass Mulch. He is a member of Queen of the Apostles Church in Avoca.
Crawford was raised in the Port Griffith section of Jenkins Township and currently resides in the Fifth Ward of Duryea with his wife Patty. They are the parents of three sons, Michael Jr., Justin and Nicholas. He also has a grandson Michael III, a third-grade student at Pittston Area Intermediate Center.
Pat O’Boyle
Patrick is the son of Patrick O’Boyle and Antoinette Grieco O’Boyle, of the Cork Lane section of Pittston Township. He attended Pittston Area High School and the Pennsylvania State University where he studied Mathematics and Engineering.
O’Boyle is employed at Terrana Law, P.C. where he handles real estate matters. He has been the head coach of the Pittston Area boys soccer team since 2o08. Prior to that, he was the assistant coach of the girls varsity soccer team and head coach of Seton Catholic boys soccer team.
O’Boyle is a member of the Knights of Columbus in Pittston, Pittston Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and Pittston Lithuanian Club.
