It was a dominating performance for Pittston Area’s girls swim team Tuesday against Coughlin.
The Patriots used wins in 10 of 12 events to upend the Crusaders, 131-50. Pittston Area claimed all three relays — 200 medley, 400 free and 200 free.
Pittston Area’s Mia Nardone won two individual events and was the lead leg in the 200 freestyle relay en route to the win. She swam the 100 fly in a time of 1:05.79 and the 100 back at 1:09.71.
Pittston Area’s Katrina Dillon was a member of the 400 free relay and also won the 200 free with a time of 2:21.26. In the 100 breast, Addison Hazlet was a winner in 1:21.44.
Diver Sierra Williams took the top spot with a score of 201.10. The Patriots took the top three spots in two different events — the 200 free and the 500 free.
Cougars sweep Wyoming Area
In Hazleton on Thursday, the Cougars boys and girls swim teams were too much for Wyoming Area. The Warriors fell 110-56.
On the boys side, however, Michael Murphy won the 200 individual medley for the Warriors with a time of 2:15.24. He was also a winner in the 100 back with a time of 1:10.65.
The only other win on the boys side was Ryan Murphy. He was first in the 100 fly at 59.18.
On the girls side, Wyoming Area fell to Hazleton 107-63.
Wyoming Area’s Amy Alder took first in the 200 free with a time of 2:12.38. That was the only win for Wyoming Area.
Sem tops Warriors
The Wyoming Area girls swimmers took top spots in just two events en route to a 65-36 loss to Wyoming Seminary.
In the diving portion of the event, Ariel DePietro took top honors with a score of 170.75. Caitlyn Kraynak finished first in the 100 breast at 1:23.22.
On the boys side, Wyoming Area picked up a win from Ryan Murphy and the 400 free relay team in a loss to Wyoming Seminary, 61-38. Murphy swam a 1:11.80 for his win. The Wyoming Area team of Michael Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Austin Alder and Zachary Lagrue were winners in the relay.
Schedule
Wyoming Area will host Nanticoke on Monday and Tunkhannock on Thursday. The Patriots will host Wyoming Seminary on Wednesday.
