STATE COLLEGE — Wyoming Area’s Haley Stackhouse earned a state medal with a seventh-place finish in the girls high jump at the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association Indoor State Championships March 1 at Penn State University.
Stackhouse cleared 5-4, the same height as the fourth- through sixth-place finishers in the field of 14, but placed behind those athletes because of a tiebreaker for the number of misses.
To qualify for the meet, athletes had to surpass qualifying standards during the indoor season.
Pittston Area’s Mia Cain also made the state meet in the high jump, but finished 11th at 5-2.
The top eight in each event received medals.
The meet was held one day before official practices for outdoor track and other spring high school sports began around the state.
