WEST PITTSTON — The annual Little Miss Cherry Blossom contest will be held at noon on Saturday, May 2 at the annual festival in West Pittston.
This year, the committee has chosen seven participants to vie for Little Miss Cherry Blossom. The contest will be held at 1 p.m. Girls are judged on talent, appearance, interview and overall performance.
The 2014 Little Miss Cherry Blossom winner was Ameriana Walker of West Pittston. The following will be vying for this year’s title:
Ashlyn Loyack
Ashlyn Loyack, 8, is a second grade student at the Pittston Area Primary Center. She is the daughter of Steve and Chrissy Loyack, Pittston Township, and has an older sister, Bailey.
Ashlyn is a dance student at David Blight in Pittston and is a bowler at Modern Lanes in Exeter. Ashlyn loves spending time outdoors with her friends.
Aubrey Lewis
Aubrey Lewis, 6, attends kindergarten at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School in the Wyoming Area School District. Aubrey attends ballet and tap classes at the John Harris Dance Academy in Luzerne. She has been attending dance classes for more than two years. She loves to perform, whether it’s on stage or in her back yard.
Aubrey has a little brother, Nathan. She enjoys playing trains and cars with him. Aubrey loves to be outside, whether she is riding her bike, swimming or playing baseball for the Exeter Lions Little League.
Katherine Potter
Katherine Potter, 8, from West Wyoming, is a student at the Tenth Street Elementary School is the “Best Big Sister” to 6-year-old Julianne. Katherine enjoys many extracurricular activities.
Throughout the school year, she takes dance lessons at David Blight in Pittston and plays basketball at The Rock in Dallas. She also plays soccer with the Forty-Fort Soccer Club. She is a members of the Wyoming/West Wyoming Little League. Katherine recently performed a jazz dance routine for her school talent show. Most of all, Katherine loves to be active and play with her sister and friends, and help others any way she can.
Caitlyn Hess
Caitlyn Hess is a second grader at the Montgomery Avenue Elementary school. She enjoys being a cheerleader for the West Pittston Rams and a gymnast at Shooting Starz Gym. Caitlyn is also a Brownie Scout and loves taking various classes at the Greater Pittston YMCA.
Ericka Rosengrant
Ericka Rosengrant, 8, Exeter, was born in May 2006. Ericka arrived six weeks early and stayed in the hospital’s NICU until her lungs were fully developed. Listening to Ericka sing, you would never know her little lungs had a rough start.
Ericka loves to spend her free time writing and drawing. She has written and illustrated countless books of her own. She enjoys singing and dancing at Phoenix Performing Arts Centre. During the summer months, Ericka plays soccer to the Stoners. Ericka lives with her mother, father and cherished cat, Gracey.
Cassidy Gallagher
Cassidy Gallagher, 8, is in second grade at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School in the Wyoming Area School District. She is a cheerleader, loves to read, and this is her first year playing soccer. For her talent she wants to do card tricks. She is an incredibly bright, caring, and loving, silly little girl.
Makayla Kozoun
Makayla Kazoun, 8, is originally from Toms River, New Jersey and moved to the area almost six years ago. She has a very big family that she loves very much.
Makayla is very talented and loves to put on shows at home and sing and dance anywhere she can. Her favorite color is purple, she loves mermaids and, of course, music. “Mac,” as her family calls her, is a very sweet and loving little girl and they are very proud of her.
