Ronald Jude Rome, of Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, is seeking a Democratic nomination to Exeter Borough Council in the May 19 Primary Election.

Rome, 52, eldest son of Mary Ann Serratore (Barletta) Rome and the late Ronald R. Rome, is a lifelong Exeter Borough resident, former local news writer and media/public relations consultant.

According to an email sent to the Sunday Dispatch, Rome is committed to enhancing and improving public safety; promoting ethics, integrity, transparency, open communications, and collaboration amongst all members of council, borough employees, borough businesses and borough residents; establishing a council-based business development committee that will focus not only on retaining current borough-based businesses, but also work with local, county, state and federal resources to attract new businesses to the borough.

A 1980 graduate of Wyoming Area Senior High School, Rome attended Luzerne County Community College, Wilkes University and King’s College, earning credit toward degrees in criminal justice and journalism.

He currently manages a call center for a business process outsource company that administers and services government healthcare programs for private insurance companies and directs a staff of 60 employees. Prior to assuming this role, he held management-level positions with Luzerne County 911 where he served as the agency’s intra-governmental liaison, interim public safety answering point manager, quality assurance manager and public information officer.

He is also chief executive officer and owner of R. Jude Rome Communications, a media and public relations consulting firm.

Rome also previously worked as a staff writer for the Sunday Dispatch and Pittston Bureau chief for the Scranton Times.

He is a former Exeter Community Ambulance Association officer and attendant, former Exeter Hose Company No. 1 firefighter and former Exeter Borough Police and Fire department and Exeter Ambulance call-taker-dispatcher and fire apparatus operator.
