With most other sports still in the heart of their respective seasons, the Wyoming Valley Conference boys tennis season is quickly coming to a close.
The PIAA District 2 Team Championships begin on Friday, May 1 at the higher seed’s complex. Semifinals and finals will be held on Tuesday, May 5. The team championships will be held at Kirby Park.
For singles players, the district championships will begin with the first three rounds on Thursday, May 7. The semifinals and finals will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 8. The doubles action will begin on Wednesday, May 13 with semifinals and finals at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 14. All singles and doubles opening round matches will be held at Kirby Park. The semifinals and finals will be determined at a later date.
Pittston Area played just one match this week. The Patriots fell to MMI Prep on Thursday. Pittston Area scored just five set points in the singles matches.
The match against Hazleton, originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, was postponed due to weather and has yet to be rescheduled. Pittston Area travels to Dallas on Monday.
