—It hasn’t taken Wyoming Area freshman Hannah Hinkle much time to adjust to the varsity swimming ranks.
In a 96-58 win over Meyers on Tuesday, Hinkle stole the show. The freshman took first in three individual events. She was a winner in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:55.37. She also won the 100 fly in a time of 1:21.65 and was on the winning Wyoming Area 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.
The big win against Meyers came with Wyoming Area scoring individual wins in seven events. The Warriors also won the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay.
Senior Amy Alder took first in the 200 freestyle event with a time of 2:14.19. Alder also took first in the 500 freestyle at 6:05.81.
Alder and Hinkle were also members of Wyoming Area’s 200 medley relay and the 400 relay, which were winners.
Breanna Cannell was a winner in the diving event. She finished with 165.35 points. Victoria Remley took first in the 100 free at 1:11.03.
Caitlyn Kraynak was a part of both Wyoming Area relay wins and took the 100 breast in 1:26.46.
Patriots stifle Wyoming Area
Pittston Area won 11 of the 12 events to secure a 132-50 win over Wyoming Area on Thursday.
Patriot swimmer Mia Nardone took first in two individual events and was a swimmer on the 200 medley relay team, which won with a time of 2:08.58. She was also on the 400 free relay team, which won at 4:25.06.
Nardone took first in the 100 fly (1:07.49) and first in the 500 freestyle (5:45.52).
Erin Senese was a three-race winner. She swam the final leg of the 200 medley relay. She was also on the 200 free relay team. Senese took individual honors in the 50 free (28.43).
Also winning three races was Kassity Roche who was on the 200 medley relay team and took first in the 200 individual medley (2:37.98) and the 100 backstroke (1:14.06).
Sierra Williams won the diving event, while Arianna Boccardi took first in the 100 free. Jordan Zbegner was a winner in the 100 breast.
Wyoming Area’s Amy Alder was the lone Wyoming Area swimmer to garner a win. She took the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:16.34.
In the boys’ race, where no score was kept because Meyers lacks a boys team, the Murphy boys shined for Wyoming Area. Michael Murphy contributed three wins while Ryan Murphy was a winner in four events.
Michael Murphy won the 200 individual medley (2:14.87) and the 100 breast (1:10.79). Ryan Murphy was an individual winner in the 200 free and the 100 fly. Michael and Ryan each swam a leg of Wyoming Area’s winning 200 medley relay team.
Pittston Area’s Brandon Winters took first in the 100 free with a time of 52.98. Teammate Michael Barney won diving with a score of 223.35.
